I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. I am licensed to teach all subjects PreK to 6th grade as well as 7th and 8th grade English and Reading. I'm also licensed to be a school administrator in any school, K-12.
I earned National Board Certification in 2007 and 2017. Only 2% of educators in the United States earn this certification. It is the highest level of certification available to teachers.
I serve on the Executive Board of the Utah National Board Coalition. The coalition works to increase the number of Utah teachers with National Board Certification. Each year I mentor teachers that are working toward their National Board Certification. I also teach master's degree courses for teachers earning advanced endorsements.
Currently, I'm a Literacy Specialist in one of Utah's highest need Title 1 schools. I train teachers in the most effective ways to teach children. Strong literacy skills are critical to success in just about every career. All of Utah's children should be able to read and write on grade level.
As a Literacy Specialist and National Board Certified Teacher, I see how federal and state policies can help or hinder teachers. I'm a strong advocate for policies that encourage innovation and excellence in teaching.
